Crown Sampler 1840 by Jeannette Douglas calendar crates by stitching with the housewives 2219 WhiskeyI am delighted to share this antique with you. It is from 1840 of Dutch origin. The sampler had lots of great motifs and I loved the top rows of crowns and shields, but the composition did not please me, it had large blank spots on it. I saw this piece as more enjoyable in the vertical format as like a band sampler with the bottom coming to a point. It is framed in the photo but would look equally wonderful with a hem stitched edge. Design Size 7 5 8
