The base: fully matured Elijah Craig Straight Rye (51% rye, 35% corn, 14% malted barley), then transferred at barrel proof into a second new oak barrel toasted for nearly an hour in partnership with Independent Stave Company. At the end of toasting, a cap rapidly ramps heat to embed smoke phenols into the wood surface. The result retains its Kentucky
