This painting is from a photo by Lou Parsonage of her son Jess, bringing their mares home for breeding. Parsonages raise some of the finest quarter horses you'll ever find, in the extraordinarily beautiful Cypress Hills of Saskatchewan. I usually only paint from my own references, but since Parsonages are friends, and I've been to their place, this photo means a lot to me. I hope that comes through in the work. Thank you
