Suzuribako is used for storing calligraphy items, such as inkstones, inksticks, brushes, etc. It is caramel brown, true to the shunkei nuri style of lacquerware. This lidded box is two tiered and has a ribbon for tying the boxes together. The top box has five compartments, and the bottom one can be divided into two with a partition.
