Gene brushed gold glaze over his cobalt stained Northern Lights design to give them an iridescent glimmer

Golden Spiral Bowl Local Pickup Only Lucy did this at Gene'sThe design of this large bowl has a fresh contemporary design reminiscent of ferns uncurling in early spring. I adapted it from a fine old example I found from the Norwegian folk art tradition, unusual for its simple incised lines instead of deeper carving. The exterior rim has a warm iron underglaze stain under the gold glaze. A generously sized serving piece, 9. 5 " diameter at the rim, 11" at the widest diameter and 5. 75" in height.
